Sparkplay Media is a rising company from San Francisco, CA. They are currently one of the leaders in Browser-based games and have developed a fully function 3D Massively Multiplayer Game that is comparable to Everquest and WoW that can be played right inside a web browser. They look to expand to more games in the coming months.
While Derek is not a company, he might as well be with the great games that he single-handedly creates. With a resume including great games such as Spelunky and Eternal Daughter. Derek Yu is one of the best Indie Game Designers on the web today.
Nitrome is my favorite online gaming site on the web. It features small, simple and amazing flash games all done with great pixel art characters and backgrounds. The amount of games that are at a great quality is really amazing.
Gobelin's is an Apprenticeship program in France that centers around 3D Animation. They have some of the best student work in the world and each year they put out amazing animations that win a ton of awards. Check out their 2D and 3D work.
